Struggling to gain an
independent life should be owned by every young people and I am sure that
independency will make life better. The refusal of job applications actually became
my trigger to open self-managed job, to boost courage to be dare in pioneering
self-business, especially in my hometown, Alor. Knowledge, life experience and
literatures that I read during my study in Jogja became the provision to step
forward and be more creative. Having saveral moments trying to find young Alor
friends who had the same vision, 'ALOR
Creative 100%' was established then.

‘Alor Creative 100%’ is a
group consisting of several Alor young people who want to increase the value of
life through local products from natural resources of Alor Island into
ready-to-use items having high sale value. The local products include coconut,
candlenut, cashew, moringa and bamboo. Some of genuine natural products were
selected and processed into crafts and foods in line with to the community's vission,
Act Locally for Global Change. This
business is located in Air Mancur village, East Alor district, Alor regency, East
Nusa Tenggara, and using online media Facebook: AlorCreative100% and Instagram:
@alorcreative.

Network with WVI for Moringa Oleifera |
All process of product
uses environmentally-friendly principles from the beginning of the process to
the final stage of packaging. This commitment makes us easy to network with some
existing Social Institutions, such as WWF, WVI, WALHI, and PIKUL to do join- campaigning
for Environmentally Friendly Living. We have been several times actively
involved in joint movements to campaign self-independency, to raise local
potencies and to be environmentally friendly.

The current flagship
product is VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil), the pure coconut oil made by using simple
techniques called Cold Pressed techniques of selected fresh coconut without
chemical additives, so that the VCO has fresh coconut aroma. Furthermore,
coconut shell waste is processed into handicrafts of accessories, such as
earrings, necklaces, bracelets and eating utensils. It looks simple but it has
high sale value because of the artistic ability and creativity in it. The
interest of buyers is also high even though the lowest price of the accessories
is Rp 15.000. However, coconut fruit waste in the form of coconut fiber and
water cannot be managed optimally due to the limited capable human resource and
equipment.

Until now, product
marketing does not have difficulties, because beside online and direct selling,
the principle of network and the social business system was also developed,
such as exhibitions, festivals and entrusted products to network friends'
gallery. It turns out that people from outside of Alor island prefer our
products to the locals. It makes us proud and pushes our creativity to bring
out new models.
It should be realized
that if a group of young people with enthusiasm and knowledge meet with
creativity and networking and then they are able to process local resources
into potential products, they will exist and be independent. (Petrus Maure).
